The following photo and quote appeared in the New York Times on Valentine's Day. Article My pastor read the article in our Tuesday Night Prayer meeting and we prayed for Paula King along with the the other families who have been staying in the Radisson JFK since September.Mrs. King had fled Biloxi, Miss., as the hurricane headed for the city, leaving behind her new four-bedroom home. Since September, her address has been Room 612 of the Radisson Hotel J. F. K. in Jamaica. She lives out of suitcases and stores her food incardboard boxes.
"Now this is my bedroom, living room and dining room right here," she said, starting to cry. "My church is gone, my friends are gone, there's nothing there. Everything is gone, just devastated. You wonder where the people are."
After the prayer meeting, Pastor asked me to see if we can "do something to help". Long story short, I called the hotel asked to speak with Mrs. King. I explained the story about how we found the article about her and prayed on Tuesday. She explained that many of the evacuees were being asked to to leave and she was going back to Mississippi on Monday. I asked if she would come and spend the day with us on Sunday before she left - she did!

Here's a photo of the pastors wives praying for Paula. We chose a wonderful couple in our church to pick her up at the hotel, take her to lunch and dinner. They had a blast...since she'd been eating the same thing everyday since they arrived to the hotel. She was overwhelmed with the songs the choir sang, the prayers and Pastor Durso's desire to reach out to "her". Privately, we gave her an envelope with cash to help her get get going - she didnt want to take it...she was overwhelmed saying, I don't derserve this!
When we helped Paula this Sunday - Did I see Jesus?"I'm telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me--you did it to me.' - Jesus

You did, and so did she. You both experienced the Word that "became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood." Fun how God can use one act of kindness to bless so many people.
Great story Ralph. I have to admit, and I am probably being biased, but our church is the most loving church I have ever been apart of. To reach out to those that are less fortunate just so they feel blessed and loved, oh what a wonderful thing. I am sure that she felt God's wonderful pressence.
